About book
Unspoken is a collection of 50 essays written by men. This is a sequel to the bestseller Unspoken: Ukrainian Women Share Their Hidden Stories which brought together 48 women authors and their sincere, poignant stories about women’s experiences. This collection was born out of the interest for dialogue between women and men.
The collection of essays Unspoken: Ukrainian Men Share Their Hidden Stories contains personal stories that break stereotypes and show expectations that men face from society, and debunk the myth of ‘the real man’. These are conversations in the kitchen, frank reflections on the important things, the opportunity for men to voice something they never said. Men, this is a book about you and for you. Women, this is a book about something you’ve always wanted to ask or were curious about.
Unspoken: Ukrainian Men Share Their Hidden Stories is a true book. The fact is that men also face stereotypes and try to find a new masculinity which leaves them free to feel and share their true self, without audacious success stories.

Idea
The myth of ‘the real man’ is alive, burdening every man. A ‘real man’ does not feel anything, does not allow himself to cry, never gets tired and never falls. He keeps rolling the Sisyphus’ boulder up and forward.

The front cover of the women's edition of the book features a depiction of a circle of women providing mutual support. Meanwhile, the men's edition displays a group of men collectively pushing a Sisyphean stone, with some vying for the chance to join the group at the back. This serves as a metaphor for the unique challenges and obstacles faced by men at every level of hierarchical advancement. As they ascend, these difficulties become increasingly pronounced.
